Tomorrow my son, JP (João Pedro) turns nineteen. I developed this song/mashup for his present.

Like his father, he is a tech geek, majoring in Computer Engineering, but he is also a very talented musician. That is where he draws the line with AI. I respect that and don’t ever want him to change, but I still do me, often to his chagrin.

If you are a fan of The Beatles and/or Progressive Metal (as he is both), then you might dig this as the former bookends the latter. The vocals are me and intentionally via a crappy headset mic and first-take trainwrecks in my attempt to pepper the sanitized perfection of AI with my very human and purposefully overdriven and off-pitch “singing.” Anything for the boy.

Hey, it was the first time I laid my voice over an AI Gen song, so if you want your money back or something, I get it. But I tried.

The curated samples reference TV shows and films he’s loved from his very start through today. As for the backmasking at the end, if you too are a nerd, you’ll figure it out, but if not, it’s a birthday greeting of love from this father to his son, and so much more.
